we love glow sticks, but by now we all know how bad single-use plastics are

well, the chemicals inside glow sticks are even worse

glow sticks contain known carcinogens, are often mislabeled and falsely marketed as safe

used for so much more than parties - glow sticks or “chem lights” are used for military signaling, commercial fishing lures, search and rescue beacons, and even fail-safe lights for astronauts

we estimate there are well over a billion glow sticks being discarded every year

we are on a mission to replace plastic,
toxic

glow sticks with bioluminescent enzymes, biodegradable materials, and a lot of science

The glow sticks used for our campaign are repurposed garbage from around British Columbia. Our friends at the Glow Stick Initiative set up collection stations at summer events. Every glow stick has been used once, collected, counted, and added to a growing database of glow stick waste worldwide.
We are now using them to help raise awareness.
